With just one week to go before the game's launch, 2K releases "The Chosen" trailer.

 

 

Ahead of the game's worldwide release on October 24, 2K Games today unveiled the intro cinematic forCivilization: Beyond Earth, which is called "The Chosen." As its name suggests, the trailer sets up the story for Beyond Earth, which involves people traveling ... beyond earth.

It's an impressively produced, if not somewhat depressing, video. But it certainly did its job of getting its hooks in me.

Beyond Earth was announced just six months ago during PAX East. The game marks the first time a Civilization game has fully explored mankind’s future instead of playing in the past. Beyond Earth's science fiction setting will undoubtedly be familiar to fans of Firaxis' 1999 hit, Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, as both share a similar, humans-on-an-alien-world premise.
