Microsoft expands Lumia series with budget Lumia 530 smartphone for Rs. 7,349

Microsoft said at the time of the Nokia mobile division acquisition that the company would be committed to the lower-end smartphone segment where it could achieve its greatest success.

 

India residents will get to see Microsoft’s promise for itself tomorrow, August 14, when the company’s lowest-priced smartphone goes on sale.

 

“The affordable smartphone segment is growing exponentially, driven primarily by youth who are constantly looking out for smartphones with power-packed features at affordable prices,†Viral Oza, director-marketing, Nokia India, a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobiles Oy, said.

 

The Lumia 530 bears a 4-inch display with 854 x 480p screen resolution, a quad-core 1.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory storage, and a 1,430mAh battery – along with the usual Bluetooth 4.0 and micro-USB 2.0 port. The phone comes in two variant, i.e. single-SIM, dual-SIM. There is no 4G wireless service with the phone, but it can access Wi-Fi, 2G, and 3G networks.

 

No front camera is present on the Lumia 530, but it does have a 5MP back camera (sans flash). For those who want more than 4GB of memory storage, Microsoft has maintained a microSD card slot that allows for an additional 128GB of memory storage expansion. And yes, for those who’re wondering, the Lumia 530 will run Windows Phone 8.1 that now comes with the newly-added digital assistant Cortana.
