Leah Jeffries, who plays Annabeth in upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, offers a small tease regarding the monsters in the show.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Leah Jeffries is as eager as the fans for the Disney+ series' debut, noting that she cannot wait for viewers to feast their eyes on the monsters of the show specifically. Jeffries will play Annabeth Chase, a protagonist of the series as one of the novel's core trio alongside Walker Scobell's Percy Jackson and Aryan Simhardi's Grover Underwood. The series will be based on the first book in Rick Riordan's beloved YA mythological fantasy series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Though most series details have been kept under wraps, the plot of the first novel, The Lightning Thief, offers plenty of exciting twists and turns fans look forward to seeing on-screen.

Based on the novel, the Disney+ series will likely see Percy, Grover, and Annabeth on the run from gods and monsters alike as they work to complete their quest. Several monsters are mentioned in The Lightning Thief, including the Minotaur, hellhounds, the Furies, a chimera, an echidna, Medusa, and more. While all the magic, monsters, and action sequences must have been a challenge to film, the effort will certainly pay off when fans see the final product.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Jeffries couldn't help but hype up the Disney+ series, adding in a tease about the show's monster designs. See what she had to say below:

"I'm excited for you guys to see the whole entire show. Like, I can't wait for you guys to see like, how the monsters that are in there are going to look, us going through certain things, looking for stuff. Like, I can't wait for you guys to see it, though."

Jeffries' comments add more fuel to the hype that has been building for the Percy Jackson Disney+ series since it was announced. When author Rick Riordan's involvement was confirmed, many fans felt that the show would fix the damage done to the franchise by the previous live-action iteration of the story, two films starring Logan Lerman that Riordan had no part in creating. One of the many complaints book lovers had about those films was that they were disappointed by the look of the monsters as well as some other characters, feeling that the films did not accurately capture the magic of the novels. Jeffries' words validate the fan sentiment that the Disney+ show will finally do the books justice.

Though the series will certainly be thrilling when it finally does premiere, fans may be waiting a while longer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians to touch down on Disney+. Though Riordan and others have revealed more information about the show, and recent videos have offered a first look at Percy, Grover, and Annabeth in costume, the most recent timeline update marked the series as a 2024 release. While they wait, those excited about the series debut can always read or re-read the novels in preparation. This adaptation promises to be much more faithful to the source material, and clearly a source of great excitement for Jeffries, which bodes well for fans of the franchise.
