UK Prime Minister Praised Assange Flick “The Fifth Estate

Recommended Posts

David Cameron has praised the bio-flick on Julian Assange, an individual he wants locked up, after viewing just part of it. Prime Minister claimed that Benedict Cumberbatch was brilliant as the WikiLeaks founder in the movie.

The surprising fact was that David Cameron claimed he admires Assange’s early work. Prime Minister was a big fan when WikiLeaks was exposing corruption in Africa and only went off when the service started exposing western secrets. Cameron also liked the fact that the whistleblowing service encouraged open government, but didn’t much when it revealed secrets about his.

Cameron only saw the first part of the movie but said that Benedict Cumberbatch, who played Assange, did it brilliantly. However, Prime Minister felt uneasy that Assange in the movie appeared to be more concerned about the people who leaked information, rather those whose security may have been jeopardized by the leaks. He believes that you also need to think about people whose lives are at risk because they have been leaked, which he didn’t see in the film. “But it makes you thinkâ€, - he said.

Cameron campaigned strongly in favor of open government while in opposition – around the time the whistleblowing service first started making an impact. Apparently, Prime Minister had difficulty seeing a difference between corruption in Africa or within the US or Britain’s military. He believes that people feel sympathy for WikiLeaks because of the things it uncovered in Africa and elsewhere, and they think it is great that the truth has been revealed.

Cameron claims that transparency about information over where money is spent and how it is spent helps keep governments and politicians honest, which makes WikiLeaks a good thing. At the same time, Prime Minister opposed the “huge dumps of information†by the service, saying that every single document they had was made public without considering the consequences and lives could have been put at risk as a result. Finally, Cameron claimed that government secrecy is necessary for national security. Of course.

Julian Assange criticized The Fifth Estate, and he wasn’t involved in filming. The group’s founder said an early version of the script he had seen was “fanning the flames for war on Iranâ€. He also pointed out that the piece was a “propaganda attack on WikiLeaksâ€.
