Vision for the Future
We are striving to create a healthy, vibrant community that helps people make music using Linux. To this end, we envision an even more active forum, providing a useful and accessible place for discussion and support requests. We will implement a wiki with user-contributed articles, resources, and link-lists. We will have multiple streams for sharing information, including RSS aggregation, podcasts, and video tutorials. We will explore ways to contribute to and support FLOSS projects that we appreciate, depend on, and see potential in. We will always support and remain open to working with other communities that share our goals and values. When we have accomplished this vision, we will seek new and innovative ways to keep pursuing our mission.

KXStudio is a collection of applications and plugins for professional audio production.
KXStudio provides Debian and Ubuntu compatible repositories and its own Linux Distribution currently based on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS.

The KXStudio project is divided into 3 main sections:

Applications
We offer our own custom set of applications and utilities for Linux and Windows.
This includes a fully-featured audio plugin host, a JACK patchbay and more.
 

Plugins
We provide a wide range of open-source audio plugins and Linux ports.
We also provide custom patched plugins to work better and/or support more features.

Repositories
Debian and Ubuntu compatible repositories are available.
Use them to get extra applications and updates, or to upgrade to the KXStudio distribution.

Ubuntu Studio is a free and open source operative system, and an official flavor of Ubuntu. Ubuntu Studio is the most widely used multimedia orientated GNU/Linux distribution in the world. It comes preinstalled with a selection of the most common free multimedia applications available, and is configured for best performance for the Ubuntu Studio defined workflows: Audio, Graphics, Video, Photography and Publishing.

A community project

Ubuntu Studio is a community effort, created by volunteers, targeted towards all skill levels, from beginner to pro, and aims to be easy to install and easy to use, as well as provide all the tools nessecary for any type of media content creation.

What we do..

We aim to be an example on how to configure a Debian based operative system for our workflows, contributing in bringing improvements upstream to Debian, and communicating with developers directly, by doing testing, fixing bugs and providing feedback.

Our goal

We aim to be a the gateway for users coming into the Linux world, wanting to use Linux for multimedia content creation, by providing applications and documentation, as well as being a portal to other GNU/Linux and FLOSS communities in the world.

Standard Linux distributions are designed for running servers or desktop usage. But because of his design, Linux itself have the ability to be a perfect audio solution. We have taken this ability and turned standard Linux in something that is enjoyable to listen. Every little part of it can be crucial for listening. The unnecessary services and daemons, included in standard Linux distributions, have been removed and their negative influence on audio playback made impossible. Printing and some other network services running in background of the standard Linux distributions, use the CPU and memory and are completely useless for audio reproduction.

AP-Linux distribution is based on Arch Linux with highly configurable and low resource demanding X window manager called Fluxbox. Standard desktop environments like Gnome, Cinnamon and XFCE are not included any more.
