Site maintenance this weekend

Hello beloved people,

The site will be offline for a couple of hours this weekend to perform some major database restructuring.

Currently, both Gazelle and Ocelot write independently to the same torrent and user tables. This leads to deadlocks when both processes try to do something at the same time, and hilarity ensues (except that it doesn’t).

The idea is to move the statistics that Ocelot writes out of the main user and torrent tables and into separate tables that only Ocelot will write to and Gazelle reads from. This will be a big improvement in reliability.

The operation will take a couple of hours and we might take the opportunity to do some system upgrades at the same time. We will keep you posted closer to the date. As always, news updates will be posted to IRC regularly.
