Game Of Thrones Looks Set to Continue Pushing Boundaries in Season 4 This April

After close to a year-long absence, popular fantasy TV series Game Of Thrones is due to return to the HBO Channel on April 6 2014. This will be the fourth series of the often controversial series, and it is the first series that fans of the books which inspired it will be in for as many surprises as those who have not read them.

The success and demand for the Game Of Thrones series has left the TV producers in a difficult position, as the author of the novels, George R R Martin, has not yet finished writing the next volume. A decision was reached between the TV series makers and Martin that both would now go their separate ways, so whatever happens in the TV show will not necessarily be what happens in the next novel, as and when it is published.

A minority of fans has reacted with disappointment to this, suggesting that the TV series should have been postponed, but for the most part fans seem delighted that they will be getting double the story by watching the series and reading the next book.

Despite high praise for the incredible production values, superb acting and strong scripts, Game Of Thrones has been hit by controversy since its first episode. Despite being clearly made with an adult audience in mind, the barbaric, graphic violence and frequent explicit sex scenes have pushed the boundaries of what can be shown on television, even via cable networks. Casting German pornographic star Sibel Kekilli in a recurring role did not exactly help deflect any of the controversy around the show either.

As for what fans can expect, a recently released trailer confirms a number of favourite characters return, but gives away little in the form of spoilers. Those fearing that not being bound by the novels might mean the producers opt to replace the drama with more viewer-rating-seeking sex and violence appear to have nothing to worry about.

Actor Peter Dinklage, who plays the popular character Tyrion Lannister, has revealed that some of the dialogue scenes were so intense that Charles Dance, who plays Tyrion’s father Tywin, felt obliged to hug Dinklage after the scene finished him, reassuring him that he loved him really, no matter what sort of thing the scripts called upon him to say.
