Derek Iversen of 'SpongeBob' leads the writers' team.

The Russian company Riki Group, known for the international cartoon franchise Kikoriki, and Hollywood's Tremblay Bros. Studios will co-produce a music-driven animated TV Series entitled The Kameleons.

"We have long wanted to bring a musically themed show to life with real music created by today's top producers," Christian Tremblay, president of Tremblay Bros. Studios, said in a press release. "It's great to bring this project to life with the talented and extraordinary animation team of Riki Group."

"Music is a language that transcends gender, culture, and truly is universal," added Diana Yurinova, vp international business development and distribution at Riki Group.

Set in a typical suburban neighborhood, The Kameleons follows the everyday struggles of a wacky, all-chameleon band in their quest for stardom.

The show was developed by Christian and Yvon Tremblay based on Riki Group's original concept. The script was penned by a team of writers led by Derek Iversen, a former lead Nickelodeon staff writer, known for his work on SpongeBob.

For the first season, 52 episodes of 11 minutes each will be produced. An air date has not yet been announced.

Riki Group has produced the international cartoon franchise Kikoriki, which has been adapted in half a dozen countries, including the U.S., Germany and the U.K.

The Tremblay Brothers has produced original content, such as The Mega Babies and Life of the Block, and has also worked with global brands, including Felix the Cat.
