Fury vs Sefer fight : Big FINES for illegally streaming online

Recommended Posts

BOXING fans streaming Tyson Fury’s comeback fight this weekend have been warned they could be hit with a knock-out fine.

Tyson Fury is back after 924 days out of the ring with a fight against Albanian Sefer Seferi.

BT Sports has broadcast rights for the bout on lockdown in the UK.

“Whether it’s a re-stream on social media, a piracy site, or using a device, box or stick connected to your TV, avoiding the official provider to access the fight is illegal," said CEO of FACT, Kieron Sharp.

“FACT is leading the way in combatting digital piracy and working with PIPCU and industry to crackdown on illegal streaming and to hold those behind them accountable for their actions.

“It is getting harder and harder to watch live sport illegally and so boxing fans should be aware that if they were planning to watch the fight this way they are breaking the law.”

And if you are caught illegally steaming the Manchester Arena fight, the consequences could be devastating.

Craig Foster was threatened with an £85,000 bill after a Facebook stream of Joshua’s epic fight with Wladimir Klitschko was traced back to his IP address.

And Yusuf Mohammed was slapped with a £16,000 court costs bill and pay Sky damages for illegally re-streaming their content.

Ahead of the blockbuster battle, customers caught illegally sharing paid-for content are being warned they could have their subscription account terminated immediately – before possibly being prosecuted and fined.

For years, streaming was a grey area sparking a boom in sales of Kodi boxes.

However last April, the EU Court of Justice ruled the sale of such devices was illegal – as was using them to stream copyrighted content.

Fury last fought in 2015, when he beat Wladimir Klitschko and snatched the IBF, WBA and WBO world heavyweight title from him.

But he later relinquished his world titles after testing positive for cocaine and revealing a battle with depression.

He will fight Seferi at 10.30pm on Saturday night.

The match can also be watched on desktop or laptop computers via the BT Sport app.

It’s also available on iOS and Android smartphone and tablet devices as well as other platforms including Amazon Fire devices, iPad, Mac computers and laptops, Playstation 3, PS4 and Xbox One.
