Game of Thrones Season 7 - Episode 6 torrent warning after recent arrests

Recommended Posts

GAME of Thrones Season 7 episode 6 is accidentally broadcast ahead of official release. However, fans should be wary of watching illegal streams after recent arrests and warnings from GoT maker HBO.

It seems that a massive blunder from HBO has seen episode 6 broadcast four days before it's officailly mean't to be released.

The episode was reportedly available on-demand to Spanish subscribers for around one hour making it totally legal to watch.

However, it seems that it has since been removed from legal channels but hackers had long enough to rip the episode and publish it online.

Sites including YouTube were instantly flooded with clips of episode 6 and full torrents already seem available via illegal downloads.

But before fans begin heading to torrent site to watch the latest instalment they should be wary about the dangers of illegal streams.

According to a recent study around 3.7 million Britons are planning to illegally watch the HBO show and one in five admitted they plan to tune-in by downloading, streaming or borrowing an illegally-obtained copy from a friend.

According to the data, 61 per cent of millennials will watch the new season, but one in three will not pay for the hit show.

However, this activity hasn’t gone unnoticed with Game of Thrones makers, HBO, appearing unhappy that people aren’t paying to watch the their blockbuster series.

According to Torrenfreak, HBO’s anti-piracy partner has begun sending out warnings to people found torrenting its latest show.

The alert is said to include the IP-addresses of the Torrent users which is then passed on to their internet service provider.

The crackdown on illegal streams is now escalating even further with a number of people being arrested for leaking an episode of the show before it was aired.

The four people from India were taken into custody earlier this week with police saying they are accused of criminal breach of trust and computer-related offences.

Speaking to the AFP news agency Deputy Commissioner of Police Akbar Pathan said: "We investigated the case and have arrested four individuals for unauthorised publication of the fourth episode from season seven,"

The case was filed by a Mumbai-based company who are responsible for processing and storing the TV episodes for an app, local media said.

Game of Thrones fans were also warned last year after torrents were used to spread damgerous malware.

Following the season 6 premiere, ransomware was introduced on The Pirate Bay to coincide with the influx of users looking to download Game Of Thrones episodes.

A fraudulent advertiser on The Pirate Bay used a pop-under advertisement to quietly redirect users and infect them with Cerber ransomware.

Security firm Malwarebytes discovered the threat, which used a victim’s vulnerable browser plugins to silently download a malicious payload to a system.
