Starz Vows to Take ‘Legal Action’ Against Man Who leaked Episodes of ‘Power’

Fans eager to see more fallout from Greg’s murder on “Power” didn’t have to wait long, thanks to a leak of this season’s last four episodes. Now, Starz is taking legal action.

“The final three episodes of Power’s fourth season were leaked online due to a breach of the press screening room,” a Starz spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly Wednesday, Aug. 9. “This seems to be a case of password sharing that resulted in homemade videos of the episodes, which were taped off a TV screen and posted online. Starz has begun forensic investigations and will take legal action against the responsible parties.”

The press portal has now been removed, EW reported.

The episodes in question appear to initially have been posted on a leaker’s Facebook page, according to Torrent Freak. Taped on a cracked iPhone screen, one episode streamed in full and the other two streamed with some missing footage.

“This is like the special, this is only for the people that work at Starz that watch this s—. My man sent me the whole login s—,” the leaker said, according to Torrent Freak. “I had to pay that n—-, though.”

By the end of the stream, the man reportedly turned his phone to show his face. The Bit Torrent protocol news website noted the leaker is “extremely easy to identify” and so is his Facebook page.

“Power,” a crime drama created by 50 Cent, has been huge for Starz because of its Black target audience boosting ratings and subscribers, according to IndieWire. The season 4 finale is scheduled to air Aug. 27 at 9 p.m.
