Draymond Green recalls 'You thought you was Kobe?' dis toward Paul Pierce

Recommended Posts

When the Warriors played the Clippers in February, Draymond Green dropped one of the best disses while talking to Paul Pierce.

“Chasing that farewell tour, they don’t love you like that! You can’t get that farewell tour! They don’t love you like that! You thought you was Kobe?”

Green is often regarded as one of the best trash talkers in the league, but it's rare that we ever get to actually hear what he says. In this instance, his voice was picked up by the microphones nearby and we got a glimpse into what he yells at his opponents.

"I'm not even preparing to say a word to Paul Pierce, and then he starts talking from the gate," Green says. "You're not Kobe, why are you talking?"

Green added he thought the dis was "amazing" because it "shut [Pierce] right up."

Pierce talked about the moment a few days after it happened as a guest on ESPN's "NBA Countdown" and downplayed the whole incident.

“[Draymond Green’s trash-talk game] is about a three. I’ve been around for a long time, the likes of Kevin Garnett, obviously. I grew up watching Gary Payton, hearing him, so that’s light. I couldn’t even hear [Green]," Pierce said. “I’m trying to spark my team with the trash talk, go at their emotional leader and give my guys some confidence, and that’s when you heard say what he said.”
