Chrissy Teigen has quit Twitter after being 'sickened' by commenters.

The 28-year-old model, who is married to singer John Legend, voiced her opinion about gun control laws in the US on Wednesday.

But the snarky message was met with intense criticism, prompting the Sports Illustrated beauty to abruptly quit the social media site.

"I feel sick. Bye Twitter. Taking my talents to instagram (sic),' she tweeted Thursday.

Chrissy's account remained active at press time, however she had not posted any additional messages, leaving her 540,000 followers behind.

Her departure followed shortly after the model commented about a shooting at the National War Museum in Ottawa which killed one soldier and left multiple others injured before the gunman was killed by a member of security.

"active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in america, wednesday (sic),' Chrissy wrote, later addressing the swarm of criticism that followed.

"Sorry you don't understand that is a knock at america and our issues with gun control. No one is minimizing the Ottawa shooting (sic)," she insisted.

'It's been awhile since I inadvertently pissed a ton of people off. Forgot how much it sucks,' she added.

Media commentators, including Andrea Tantaros at Fox News, even latched onto the story.

'This is the problem when models start to talk; it plays into that dumb model stereotype,' she said.

Chrissy eventually threw in the towel after receiving death threats, People.com reports.

"I can't see anything through the sea of hate and anger that is now my Twitter. Seriously I can't sift through it all," she wrote.
