Forza Rewards connectivity is also limited to the Xbox One version.

 

The first premium DLC pack for Forza Horizon 2 debuted yesterday for $5, introducing six new cars. Despite the game being available on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, the DLC was only released on the latter--and the same will be true of future DLC, as there are no plans for DLC support with the 360 version.

In a post on the official Forza forums, Turn 10 community manager Brian Ekberg wrote, "We are currently planning to release DLC only for the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2."

Beyond that, the game won't have any connection to Forza Rewards, the franchise's digital platform that offers in-game rewards and tracks your progress across Forza games. "Also, Forza Rewards benefits are only available in the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2," Ekberg continued.

"This means that Xbox 360 players will not receive Forza Rewards credits or cars. In addition, progress in the 360 version of Forza Horizon 2 does not count towards your Forza Rewards Tier Level score. Only progress in the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2 will count towards your overall Forza Score (and Tier Level) in Forza Rewards."

Although they carry the same name, Horizon 2 on Xbox One and 360 contain differences that extend beyond graphics. While the One version looks much better, as you'd expect, there are no Drivatars (for better or worse) in the 360 version, nor are there weather effects. The two versions--previously described by a dev as "different game"--were developed by separate studios; Playground Games took the lead on the current-gen version, while Sumo Digital was responsible for the last-gen version.

Yesterday's DLC pack is only the beginning for for Horizon 2, as Microsoft's DLC plans are extensive. In addition to free DLC released on launch day, there are at least six months of car packs on the way.
