Welcome to second chapter of "Torrent tracker from scratch" !

In a previous chapter we talk about why you or somewhere else need it's own/another torrent tracker.

In this article we start talk about what you need to make it.

  • First of all you need to clearly understand for what reason, and for what content you want provide your tracker platform, what must be best or unique in class.
  • Second... Again! you need to understand what you can get for your actions!
  • Third you knowledge and experience about torrenting must be at least average or above!
  • Plus you need at least initial skills in web coding, administration.

Let's Imagine that you have understood everything and decided what to do (or not).
 


One of the most important thing you need to learn is a security!

It's absolutely doesn't matter what you do with file sharing technologies, in any time you can be claimed as a criminal scum! Because we have a tons of  awkward rules about file sharing and web in general, and this madness mutate every day.

If you decided to create file sharing resource prepare your security first!

Rules and recommendations:
1. There is NO place for your real life info in your project(or better in all kind of networks)!
2. NO real IP address(use good vpn protection)!
3. Secure yourself as good as possible!
4. Don't be gullible

Now it's time to get some basic skills!
Your homework :  make torrent tracker in a virtual machine on your localhost.

In addition try to force self-signed SSL certificate on your VM server.
