  1. When Microsoft announced earlier this month that Xbox boss Phil Spencer would be a featured speaker atJanuary's Windows 10 consumer event, some wondered why that might be. Now we know, as Spencer says the presentation will include news/reveals that should appeal to Xbox fans. Asked on Twitter if January's Windows 10 event would feature any noteworthy announcements about theXbox One, Spencer replied: "I think what we will show will be interesting to both Windows and Xbox gamers." Spencer will speak at the January 21 event at Microsoft's headquarters alongside Windows executives Terry Myerson and Joe Belfiore. All three are expected to talk about "the Windows 10 consumer experience" during the presentation, which Microsoft is calling "The Next Chapter." Just last week, Spencer strongly suggested that this Windows 10 event would have gaming news, when he said: "It's time for us to talk about gaming on Windows." In his role as Head of Xbox, Spencer not only oversees all Xbox gaming projects, but also everything to do with gaming inside of Microsoft. This includes PC gaming which, despite Microsoft's demonstrable priority focus on Xbox, Spencer has maintained is "incredibly important." When Microsoft announced Windows 10 in September, it described the OS as "one platform" for all of the company's products. However, we still don't know how Windows 10 might impact Xbox One. It's possible Spencer will talk about this during the Windows 10 event next month. Another possibility is that Spencer and company will talk about the rumored new Xbox App for Windows 10 and Cortana voice-recognition integration, both of which were leaked earlier this month. One gaming-related item we're not likely to see at next month's Windows 10 event is Microsoft's secret game-streaming technology, Arcadia. GameSpot sister site Zdnet reported last week that the technology istoo early on in development for an official reveal in January.
  2. Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man and Chris Evans as Captain America in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel has released an "extended" trailer for its upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Age of Ultron. The new trailer has many more voice overs of Ultron, as well as familiar scenes of our favorite superheroes in mortal peril. Ultron says: "You want to protect the world, but you don't want it to change..There's only one path to peace — your extinction." As opposed to the first trailer, this one is shown from the villain's point of view. We hear Ultron say some ominous things, and then we see him use an Iron Man suit to attack the Avengers. In the previous teaser, we saw the Avengers joking around and trying to lift Thor's hammer. While they are having a good time, they're interrupted by Ultron. This part of the scene seems to be continued in the latest teaser. "How could you be worthy? You're all puppets ... tangled in strings," Ultron says in this trailer before it cuts away to him crushing the skull of someone in an Iron Man suit. We also hear Robert Downey Jr's character say: "It is the end. This is the end of the path I started us on." Here are all the teasers and trailers released by Marvel.
  3. James Gunn has been speaking to Variety about his intentions forGuardians Of The Galaxy 2, with the director already sounding excited by the plans he has up his sleeve… “It’s going to be a really surprising open. What happens is all the characters are killed in the first 10 minutes,†joked Gunn. “In really horribly, brutal fashion.†He then went on to confirm that all five of the original Guardians would indeed be returning for round two, while revealing that there will also be some new team members along for the ride. “I spent all day on 1 August, the day the first movie was released, writingGuardians 2,†continues Gunn. “I was so excited about it and I was finally able to let go of the last one and begin the second one. I always saw this as a universe, not just as one story.†However, Gunn did confirm that despite his characters’ abilities to travel to far-flung galaxies, there will be no Star Wars crossover on the horizon. “Star Wars was a long time ago,†says Gunn. “It would have to be time travel.†Add Rep and Leave a feedback Reputation is the green button in the down right corner on my post
  4. Jordin Sparks didn't want to "amp fans up" about her new music. The 24-year-old released her last album, Battlefield, in 2009 and hasn't released a record since then. She's been working on new material since 2010, so her third offering is a long time coming. Jordin was careful not to promise too much to her fans on Twitter because everything was so up in the air. "New music is coming sooner than you think," she teased to "At beginning of this year I told myself I wouldn't amp anything up. I didn't wanna build up expectations and then not deliver. "We wanna put something out before end of this year. I'm doing more collaborations - I'm excited about that!" Alongside her singing, the star has been working on films. She appears in sci-fi thriller Left Behind, which focuses on a small group of survivors amid mysterious vanishings. "It's great to be part of something where a conversation can start about [how] tomorrow isn't promised," she said. "Any one of us can be gone in an instant. If you knew, who would you say that you love? Would you bury the hatchet? Would you spend more time with someone or would you cut somebody out? It's an amazing thing to think about and go, 'That's right; life could change in an instant.'" Jordin added that appearing in the flick was emotional, as she had to imagine somebody she loves disappearing from her life. She used her brother as inspiration - which really got the waterworks going. "I was so emotional I couldn't stop crying for 20 minutes after the director said 'cut'," she admitted. 5. Nintendo's all-star brawler to feature two new Master Hand challenges. The series director of Super Smash Bros for Wii U has teased two new single-player modes that are likely to appear in the upcoming title. Masahiro Sakurai published an image on Nintendo's own social network, Miiverse, showing what appears to be two new challenges involving the series' famous Master Hand boss. That image can be found above. "Now, what mode is this...?!" Sakurai wrote when publishing the Miiverse post. Some text from the image is blurred out, though the opening word for each mode remains visible. One starts with "Master", while the other begins with "Crazy", and both depict the Master Hand and a mass of coins. The top-left corner of the screen shows the menu path, which indicates these two new modes are single-player. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will ship across Europe on Friday December 5, Nintendo has confirmed. Meanwhile, in the US the game will ship two weeks earlier, on November 21. Two additional bundles have also been lined up by Nintendo UK, one of which features an Amiibo figure, an NFC-powered plastic toy that can interact with certain Nintendo games. The other bundle comes with a GameCube Controller Adapter, allowing the classic control pad to be used with the Wii U. Also available from December 5 is a standalone black Nintendo GameCube Controller, as well as a standalone GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U. Nintendo revealed its launch plans while disclosing that the handheld version, Super Smash Bros for 3DS, has now sold 2.8 million copies worldwide since its release. 6. The full-length trailer for the new Doctor Who‘s upcoming eighth season makes one thing crystal-clear: the new Doctor (played by Peter Capaldi) isn’t just physically older than his last three regenerations, he’s also more akin to a seasoned warrior in search of redemption – as opposed to his more boyish predecessors, especially Matt Smith as the most recent Doctor. However, as Smith’s former costar Jenna Coleman – whose character, Clara Oswald, is now traveling with Capaldi’s Time Lord – that change has consequences of its own, for the characters in the Who universe. Steven Moffat, who is still serving as Doctor Who‘s head writer and show-runner (after three seasons in the position), has promised to mix things up drastically in season eight. One look around the Doctor Who fan community online and you may notice that a number of Whovians seem to share Moffat’s concern that the show has grown predictable of late - and feel that the arrival of a new Doctor brings with it a chance to do something different. If nothing else, though, Doctor Who season eight will be “different,†judging by what Capaldi said to Empire Magazine on the subject. A longtime Who fan (and we mean longtime), Capaldi informed Empire that he intends to bring out the complexities of the Doctor – and remind everyone that beneath all the whimsical fashion choices and quirkiness, there’s an actual character (a fascinating one who’s entranced people for more than fifty years now, at that). “It can become a kind of franchise where it’s not a real character at all, but just an amalgam of elements that people think are Doctor Who: a scarf, a bow tie… I wanted to be the actual Doctor Who.†In the Doctor Who trailer, Capaldi’s Doctor asks Clara “Am I a good man?â€, but it sound as though there’s more to that question than you might’ve suspected at first – as the Doctor is always uncertain about his new personality at first, every time he regenerates. Indeed, according to Capaldi, the Doctor is “more alien than he’s been for a while [and] doesn’t quite understand human beings or really care very much about their approval.†Coleman’s comments on the topic (see below) echo that sentiment. “With Matt’s Doctor [Clara] felt quite safe, really. She knew she’d be caught if she was in danger, but [Capaldi's Doctor] is a lot less human-friendly and a lot less patient. He’s more removed and inaccessible. You can’t quite access him in the same way.†Doctor Who‘s new season starts off with a pair of episodes directed by Ben Wheatley, who’s known for making such intense drama/thriller fare as Kill List and A Field in England (among other titles). Which is to say, from the get-go this next season ought to strike a different note than it has in recent years, even while still relying upon some of the familiar instrumentation featured in seasons past. Bring it on, we say. The new season of Doctor Who premieres on August 23rd, 2014.
  7. The Pirate Bay just launched a mobile version of the site, the first major design overhaul in nearly a decade. The "Mobile Bay" is the first in a series of expansions which will include separate TV, music and movie sites plus a dedicated RSS portal. One of The Pirate Bay’s strengths has been its resilience. No matter how hard the movie and music industries try, the site remains operational. Over the years the Pirate Bay site has undergone many changes to make it harder to shut down. The tracker was put into retirement, torrents were traded in for magnet links, and the site moved its servers to the cloud. What remained the same, however, was the site’s general appearance and its lack of support for mobile devices. That changes today. The Pirate Bay has just debuted a new site for mobile devices. The Mobile Bay offers a much more usable interface to browse the torrent site on mobile devices. Previously mobile users were simply presented with a smaller version of the regular Pirate Bay site, which was coded long before smartphones and tablets became popular. With banners on both sides it was rather hard to navigate on smaller devices. The mobile version doesn’t change the overall appearance much, but it’s definitely more readable and easier to navigate. The new vs. old mobile look Users on mobile devices are now redirected to the new Mobile Bay domain, which will exist next to the regular site. People have the option to continue using the old layout if they prefer, but The Pirate Bay team doesn’t see any reason why people would. “The normal version of the site renders like crap on mobile devices,†the TPB team told us. The Mobile Bay is one of the largest visible updates to the site in years, but according to The Pirate Bay it’s only the beginning. Behind the scenes the TPB team is working on a series of new niche sites that will provide extra features and make it easier to find content. The TV, movie and music sections on The Pirate Bay will each get their own dedicated sites. The TV site, for example, will allow users to see a complete overview of all episodes per show, download season packs, and more. Another new project in the pipeline is the RSSbay which will support personalized RSS feeds enabling people to launch torrents remotely. “We will add more features later on, such as personal RSS feeds so users can browse torrents at work or school, and start the downloads at home,†the TPB team tells us. Aside from improving the user experience, the other advantage of these separate domain names is that TPB can’t be taken out as easily. “We’re trying to separate the site into different domain names to make it more resilient. In the event one domain get taken down, there will be plenty others left,†the TPB team says. As always with the Pirate Bay, it will be hard to predict how long it will take before these new sites will see the light of day, but the mobile edition is live now.
  8. ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Director Zack Snyder Teases New Batmobile Is the first full look coming on Tuesday? The first look at the newest version of the Batmobile arrived on Monday. Well, some of it, at least. “Batman vs. Superman†director Zack Snyder tweeted a picture of Ben Affleck's ride (above) covered in a tarp, with the exception of its rear wheels. “Could be time to pull the tarp,†Snyder wrote. “Tomorrow?†See photos: ‘Gotham': The Faces of Fox's Batman Prequel “Batman vs. Superman,†which will serve as a set up for a “Justice League†movie, hits theaters on May 6, 2016. Henry Cavill will return to play the Man of Steel, while Gal Gadot (“Fast and Furious 6â€) will play Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg will play bad guy Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons will play Batman's butler Alfred.
