  3. Raft of improvements includes smoother Snap Mode navigation, and new tools for quick access. A new system update for Xbox One has begun to roll out across Europe and the US, featuring new improvements across a range of apps and services. Microsoft has also published a video (above) showcasing many of the key changes that the update will introduce. A detailed list, written by the corporation, can be found below. New Snap and Friends functions - Stay in the game and in touch with your friends at the same time with improved Snap, SmartGlass and Achievements functions. Snap Updates – We’ve updated the Snap Center to include quick access to many of the things our fans wanted faster access to when playing a game – Friends, Messages, Game DVR, clock, and battery indicator – as well as making it easier to close and open new snap apps when playing a game. A double tap of the Xbox button on your controller will bring up a menu that allows you to open a new app in snap mode, close the current snapped app, or switch focus between your game and your running snapped app. Additionally, two apps have been optimized for Snap mode:Friends Snap App – Access your friends list without leaving the game. Quickly check your friends list to see who's online right now and take actions like send message, invite or join.Messages Snap App – You’ll be able to open, read and respond to messages in Snap mode, and messages will now be displayed in a threaded conversation view.Achievements App – Updated to enable sharing of achievements you've unlocked with captions, see a list of friends who have unlocked specific achievements, and an updated achievements Snap landing page that that shows Achievements on recently played games, when a gamer is not actively playing a game.Friends section – The new Friends section enables you to see at a glance what’s going on with your friends. You can stay up-to-date with their current activities, the most popular games your friends are playing, and a Gamerscore leaderboard to see who has improved their Gamerscore over the last 30 days.New SmartGlass features – You can now see a list of your top games in your profile. You can also see a list of your friend’s most popular games in the Friend's section of SmartGlass.Improvements for TV and video – We’re excited to roll out updates that will make your viewing experience better than ever on Xbox One, whether you want to watch TV or use SmartGlass as a universal remote.Media Player DLNA and MKV support – The latest version of the Media Player app will now have support for DLNA streaming. With this update, you will be able to easily access and play music, watch photo slideshows or movies stored on home media servers and devices that support the DLNA server protocols. Additionally, you will now be able to playback MKV files stored on a USB device or a device on your home network that supports DLNA streaming.Live TV MiniGuide – For markets where OneGuide is available, a new MiniGuide on the bottom of the screen will display details about the TV content that is currently playing. You can quickly change channels, see what’s on other channels, and tune to the previous channel or other recent channels. While watching TV, you can also launch Miniguide using voice, by saying “Xbox Select – MiniGuideâ€OneGuide in 11 new countries – Live TV listings and schedules will be made available to customers on Xbox One and SmartGlass for Belgium, Chile, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Russia in the next few days.Internet TV Apps – Apps with live TV channels can now include their TV listings within OneGuide. In addition, other Xbox TV features such as channel changing using speech and Miniguide will work with these apps. These features are enabled automatically the first time you sign into a supported app. The first app to support this feature will be Zattoo with an upcoming content update for their app. The Zattoo app is available in Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark.Universal Remote Control in SmartGlass – If you are in one of those 11 countries that are getting OneGuide TV listings, you will also be able use your mobile device to control your Xbox, TV, and/or Cable/Satellite box.Live TV initial setup experience – This update will enable you to select “On start, go to TV†for your Xbox One console. Additionally, you will be shown a one-time message highlighting this new capability, if you had previously setup Live TV or have not yet set “On start, go to TV†under Settings – Power & startup.Live TV Cable & Satellite Box auto-detection – In select markets the Live TV Setup experience is being improved by attempting to automatically detect the set-top box connected to the HDMI-In port on your Xbox One.New accessory and “hide†features – We are also excited to roll out a few other cool features this month:Updated Devices & Accessories page – To access the new page, go inside Settings, where you can Find, Assign, and Update Xbox One accessories. You can now more easily “assign†accessories to specific users, such as assigning a headset to a specific gamer.Firmware updates – You can update the firmware for an individual device.Find my Controller – You can also more easily find (or identify) a controller by making it vibrate.Hide Games and Apps on your console – You can now hide items in the “Ready to install†list under My Games and Apps. This is a per-console setting and items will reappear in the list if they are installed again from the Xbox Store. To access the shortcut to temporarily show “hidden†items, press X while holding down both triggers and it will show all hidden items until you exit My Games and Apps.Password resets just got better – We’re making it easier and more secure to reset your password and add protection to your accounts. Coming later this month, if you haven’t set up your security information already, we’ll ask you to provide an alternate email address or cell phone number to use if you ever need your password reset. You’ll only need to set this up once per account, and you won’t need it every time you sign in. To set up your account security go to https://account.live.com/proofs/ and get more information athttp://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/security/add-security-contact-information. 4. Ok all, Due to all the attacks on trackers lately we have upgraded our security again and with that upgrade made sure your details and passwords are even more secure!!! Due to this upgrade we require all members to change their passwords (or recover them by email if forgotten)by the end of September (30 Sep 2014) to make sure the new password gets logged in the new system. If you do not change it before then your password will be removed from the database and you will be required to change it via an email reset when you try to log in (after the 30 Sep 2014)!! ***VERY IMPORTANT!!!*** Please all there are sone VERY unscrupulous people out there that want your details.... The easiest way for them to get them is if YOU dont look after your on-line security!! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW (AT THE MINIMUM) the following guidelines: DONT EVER use the same password for any 2 sites!! If possible dont use the same login/email for any 2 sites!! DO NOT make your password something easy to guess (you might not think someone knows your first dogs name, but are you sure you didnt mention it somewhere? Are you sure that account or your friends account hasn't been hacked? Positive? RATHER BE SURE!!) A secure password is not a name or something you can guess... Example is john346 has a password strength of 0 while jdhf7^hr(,r;(88^ydb~ would have a MUCH higher rate as a password (NOTHING is 100%...), or do complex phrases like 4J@keL0udLeg01nE@r13 (this phrase is about jake being loud because he had a lego in his ear on 4/13) We are sorry for the inconvinience, but we always make your security our primary concern!!!

  6. A quick Terminal command can turn off App Nap, letting all of your apps run at their full capacity when hidden from view. We've covered how to disable App Nap on an app-by-app basis should you find the OS X Mavericksfeature interfering with some desired features or performance of a background app. If you are on aMac desktop, however, and don't care about the battery life gains that App Nap delivers, then you can disable the feature across your entire Mac. To do so, fire up Terminal and enter this command and hit Enter: defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAppSleepDisabled -bool YES Any apps that are running need to be restarted for the change to take effect, or you can simply restart your system to disable App Nap for all of your applications. You can use Activity Monitor to check to see if any of your apps hidden from view are using App Nap. Open Activity Monitor, click on the Energy tab and take a look at the App Nap column. To reverse this change and bring back App Nap, use this Terminal command: defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAppSleepDisabled -bool NO http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-disable-app-nap-system-wide-on-os-x-mavericks/

  8. Earlier this year news broke that UK ISPs are set to team up with copyright holders to notify subscribers found sharing pirated material. Today the initiative has been announced officially, receiving praise from all parties involved. Despite the optimism it may take well over a year before the first warnings are sent out. In an effort to curb online piracy, earlier this year the movie and music industries reached agreement with the UK’s leading ISPs to send warnings to alleged copyright infringers. As we previously revealed, the Voluntary Copyright Alert Programme (VCAP) will only apply to P2P file-sharing and will mainly focus on repeat infringers. The monitoring will be carried out by a third-party company and unlike other warning systems there won’t be any punishments. The main purpose of the warnings is to alert and educate copyright infringers, in the hope they will move over to legal alternatives. The program was officially announced today and received support from all parties involved, including the UK Government which is financially backing the measures. Without exception they all praise the warning system and the accompanying educational campaign. “It is fantastic that the UK creative community and ISPs have come together in partnership to address online copyright infringement and raise awareness about the multitude of legitimate online services available to consumers. We are also grateful to the UK Government for backing this important new initiative,†the MPA’s Chris Marcich comments. Thus far BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media have agreed to send warnings to customers whose connections are being used for unauthorized file-sharing. Commenting on the collaboration, all four ISPs praised the educational nature of the VCAP program. “BT is committed to supporting the creative industries by helping to tackle the problem of online piracy while ensuring the best possible experience for its customers. That’s why we’ve worked very hard with rights-holders and other leading ISPs to develop a voluntary programme based on consumer education and awareness which promotes the use of legal online content.†BT Consumer CEO John Petter says. Lyssa McGowan, Director of Sky Broadband, is equally delighted by the anti-piracy agreement. “As both a content creator and ISP, we understand how vital it is to tackle online copyright infringement in order to protect future investment in content. As a result, we’re pleased [...] to help make consumers aware of illegal downloading and point them towards the wide range of legitimate sites where they can enjoy great content,†she notes. The comments from the other ISPs, copyright holder groups, and the Government, are all variations on the same theme. The parties praise the new awareness campaign and note that the main goal is to convert consumers to legal alternatives through education. The question that remains, however, is how genuine all this positivity really is. While the scheme is being overwhelmed with praise, the parties also announced that the first warning emails will not be sent out before next summer, possibly even later. These delays are a thorn in the side of both copyright holders and the Government, suggesting that negotiations behind the scenes are less uplifting. This also shows in earlier comments from the Prime Minister’s IP advisor Mike Weatherly who said that it’s already time to think about VCAP’s potential failure. He suggested that the program needs to be followed by something more enforceable, including disconnections, fines and jail sentences. More background and details on the planned piracy warning are available in our previous VCAP overview article. http://torrentfreak.com/uk-isps-and-copyright-holders-praise-new-piracy-warning-system-140719/
  9. The following procedure should only be used after ensuring that the computer is clean from any malware threats or infections and is running well. This procedure will delete ALL old System Restore Points and then allow you to create a new clean one. Click on START and right click over Computer and choose Properties. On the left side there is a link for System protection - click on that link and if the User Account Control prompts for permission to continue click the Continue button. You should see an image similar to the one below Click the checkmark on your Local Disk (C:) to uncheck and you will then get a warning like the one shown below. Click on the Turn System Restore Off button. Then click on the Apply button on the bottom right. Then place a check mark back on your Local Disk (C:) and again click on the Apply button on the bottom right. Now you should see a Create button. Click on the Create button and give it a name such as "System Clean - malware threats removed" and click the Create button. The system will now create a new System Restore Point using that name you just gave it. You should get a message that the restore point was successfully created. Now click the OK button and you're done.
  10. From now on, users are supposed to receive points & spare points as per given specifics on code. We need to mention, the earning system of points hasn't been changed, only the codes have been altered for more precise measurements. What drastically is changed now, is the point deduction system upon downloading. Short Summery: Before recent implementation, point deduction used to be in linear in relation with size of the torrent. But now we introduced two more variables into it - No of Snatches & 2. Seeding percentage. The main reason to do so is to ensure uniform flow of user privileges among all user classes based on points. With the earlier linear relation in deduction system, users with higher snatched torrents didn't have to seed most of their torrents. A certain number of seeding torrents could fill up the lacks of points & so, we were low on peer counts & seed per torrent. But with the current system, the deduction rate varies on those two variables. An user with higher number of snatches has to pay more than an user with lesser number of snatches - for downloading the same torrent. The opposite goes for percentage seeding. The point system is merely a tax system. If an user has greater number of snatches, he is capable of earning more points faster, so he is potentially rich on points. And for an user with lesser snatches, he isn't capable of earning points that faster, so he is comparatively poor on points. So like tax system, the rich pay tax higher than the poor. Keeping this as principle, we have designed the point system such way that, if percentage seeding is minimal 100%, an user will earn enough points to download 6 new albums each day. This is generous that most other private music trackers. The ratio on this site doesn't have effect on anything anymore. The ratio system is been entirely replaced with point system. In header section, the ratio, it's just a representation of how good you are doing. Read carefully for detailed information on Point System. As promised earlier, we have awarded 15 points per upload (in any group of FLAC/MP3/AAC) plus an incentive of +200 Points to all members of SCD. 60 Torrent Groups have been made FreeLeech. Newcomers are supposed to leech them after joining & seed them to earn points
