  1. Tracker Name : ScienceHD (SHD) Tracker Genre : E-Learning Tracker Type : Ratio Based Tracker Birthday : 04th April 2009 Maintaining Ratio : Easy Tracker URL : Sign Up URL : Tracker IRC : IRC Bonus : N/A Tracker Description : ScienceHD is a tracker that focuses primarily on e-Learning content related to Science, Science Fiction & Documentaries. It is a relatively small tracker, with a very active community of people who share interests in scientific disciplines and documentaries. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of the content is video but e-books and Scientific. Papers are also available albeit the latter is obtained through the forum via external links, however, the video content is not restricted to high def either and infact content is available in a variety of resolutions, especially older television shows which are only in SD. The tracker has gone through some significant changes, most notably the elimination of the 3GB/month download quota being the main as it has allowed the current fan base the thrive more freely. 4. Hardware migration! Please read! Due to the unprecedented success of our latest round of opening donations and the generosity of our users, we've decided that the time has come to migrate the site to better hardware! Honestly, this has been years overdue, and the new server should help the site run much faster than before, with plenty of space for continuing to expand in the future, as we keep adding more users and torrents. This is tremendously exciting, and I hope everyone enjoys it! We've scheduled the switch for this Friday, December 5, during the day (when the site is normally the most quiet). Both the web server and the tracker will be down for the duration, which shouldn't be more than a couple hours. DNS (the thing that tells your computer where, exactly, "" exists) will also take some time to update and point to the new IP. The speed at which this will happen depends on your ISP, among other things, and could be anywhere from a few minutes to a day or so, before the domain begins to redirect to the new site. No need to worry if yours is slow! However, many torrent clients (cough cough rtorrent) cache DNS while they're running. This means that you may have to restart your torrent client after the switch on Friday, if you're able to see the site but all your torrents are red. Also, if you're interested in helping to test out the new site before it goes live, hop on IRC, join #SciHD-test, and highlight me (ornithopter) in that channel. Discuss here:
  5. Once again our users amaze us... It is really unheard of for a niche tracker to shut down donations twice in a year but once again, our users have blown our minds. We quietly opened donations on October 20th and in just 34 days we have enough to pay for our bills for months to come! As a result, like last time we've decided to put donations on hold for the moment, and will open them back up when the time comes. We owe you all a very sincere thank-you, and to help out with that, We're very pleased to announce a full week of sitewide freeleech, for being such great members. Enjoy! - Staff *HnR Rules still apply for all torrents, even freeleech ones*
  6. Sticky Sunday! The Burrowers (2013) Chris Packham sheds light on the magical underground world of three iconic British animals - badgers, water voles and rabbits - investigating wild burrows and creating full scale replicas too.. The Devil Came on Horseback (2007) An up-close, honest, and uncompromising look at the crisis in Darfur, The Devil Came On Horseback exposes the ongoing tragedy in Sudan as seen through the eyes of one American witness. Using the exclusive photographs and first hand testimony of former U.S. Marine Captain Brian Steidle, this film goes on an emotionally charged journey into the heart of Darfur, Sudan, where in 2004, Steidle became witness to a genocide that to-date has claimed over 400,000 lives. As an official military observer, Steidle had access to parts of the country that no journalist could penetrate. Unprepared for what he would witness and experience, Steidle returned to the U.S. armed with his photographs, intent on exposing the images and stories of lives systematically destroyed.. 7. Sticky Sunday! A Traveler's Guide to the Planets (2010) It’s the ultimate in adventure travel, but it’s not for the faint of heart. Today’s super space traveler must endure drastic climates that shift from 840 degrees in the sun to minus 275 degrees in the shade, crushing gravity, acid smog, and blistering radiation. But the sights — from Jupiter’s churning red eye to Saturn’s glittering rings — are out of this world. Blast-off with A Traveler’s Guide To The Planets, National Geographic Channel’s ultimate travel guide to the Solar System. Learn what to pack, which planet has the best sights, and where to park the rover. Then, travel with NASA experts to extreme environments on our own planet like Chile’s Atacama Desert or Hawaii’s volcanoes that are providing scientists with valuable insights into what a trip to one of our planetary neighbors might be like. And see the next generation of space probes as they are prepared for upcoming missions that may bring the dream of interplanetary travel even closer than ever. 8. Some Recent Changes to ScienceHD Some changes have happened around ScienceHD that we'd like to tell you about in case you didn't notice them. First thing is we've overhauled the naming guide again but this time we added anchor tags and formatted it for easier viewing. Next we've made some minor tweaks and improvements to the back side of our server. You might have noticed some Gateway Errors and other nonsense happening. We've hopefully fixed them now, if you notice anything please let us know. Finally some good news, as those who upload a Documentary, Nova episode or Horizon episode know you get a bonus if you upload something in that category. Well now we've expanded the bonus to include the following series... Frontline Natural World Nature Feel free to upload anything from those series and grab the bonus! - Staff
  9. Sticky Sunday! The Internet's Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz The story of programming prodigy and information activist Aaron Swartz. From Swartz's help in the development of the basic internet protocol RSS to his co-founding of Reddit, his fingerprints are all over the internet. But it was Swartz's ground breaking work in social justice and political organizing combined with his aggressive approach to information access that ensnared him in a two year legal nightmare. It was a battle that ended with the taking of his own life at the age of 26. Aaron's story touched a nerve with people far beyond the online communities in which he was a celebrity. This film is a personal story about what we lose when we are tone deaf about technology and its relationship to our civil libertie. The Skyjacker That Got Away In 1971, on a flight from Portland to Seattle, a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked a plane and requested $200,000. After the FBI complied with the requests the plane re-entered the air with just the crew and Cooper. Somewhere over Nevada, Cooper parachutes from the plane with the money and is never seen or heard from again. Now, with help of modern forensics, experts hope DNA analysis of Cooper's tie and recovered ransom money will solve the mystery of this infamous heist.
