  1. I play guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard. But mainly guitar.
  2. In recent months copyright lobby groups have pressured the domain name system oversight body ICANN to take action against pirate sites. The organization is not happy with these calls and wants them to stop, making it crystal clear that they are not the Internet's piracy police. In recent years copyright holders have demanded stricter anti-piracy measures from ISPs, search engines and payment processors, with varying results. Continuing this trend, various entertainment industry groups are now going after organizations that manage and offer domain name services. The most influential organization in this industry is without a doubt ICANN, the main oversight body for the Internet’s global domain name system. Among other things, ICANN develops policies for accredited registrars to prevent abuse and illegal use of domain names. Still, various copyright groups believe that the organization isn’t doing enough. In recent months the RIAA, MPAA and other copyright industry groups have encouraged the organization to strengthen its anti-piracy policies. However, ICANN is not eager to take on the role of piracy police. Earlier this week ICANN president Fadi Chehadé noted that “everybody†is asking the organization to police content, which is a trend they hope to change. Speaking out on the issue for the first time, ICANN’s Chief Contract Compliance Officer Allen Grogan emphasizes that they are not going to police the Internet to protect copyright holders. “ICANN has no role in policing content – it’s entirely out of our scope,†Grogan informs TF. “Our mission is to coordinate, at the overall level, the global Internet’s systems of unique identifiers, and in particular, to ensure the stable and secure operation of the Internet’s unique identifiers,†he adds. While various copyright lobby groups suggest that ICANN has the ability and authority to take action against pirate sites, the organization itself clearly disagrees. “ICANN was never granted, nor was it ever intended that ICANN be granted, the authority to act as a regulator of Internet content,†Grogan says. Instead of letting the domain name industry decide what is allowed and what is not, copyright holders should fight their battles in court. According to ICANN, there are sufficient means to take on infringing sites through other venues. “It’s important people understand this and direct their content complaints to the institutions that are already in place to handle these issues, such as law enforcement, regulatory agencies and judicial systems,†Grogan notes. ICANN’s comments will be a disappointment to the MPAA and RIAA, who would have preferred an easy way to target the domain names of pirate sites. For now, their best option is to go through the courts, something we’re seeing more and more often these days.

  4. Former Pirate Bay operator Fredrik Neij can't play games on his Nintendo 8-bit console in prison. The prison denied the request because there's no way to open the box to check it for concealed items, a decision the Pirate Bay operator is now appealing before the administrative court. Fredrik Neij, also known as Tiamo, was one of the key operators of The Pirate Bay and often referred to as one of the site’s co-founders. In 2010 Fredrik received a prison sentence for his involvement with the notorious site, which he initially avoided. Last November he was eventually arrested by Thai immigration authorities and later transferred to a prison in Skänninge, Sweden. Under the circumstances, Fredrik has been doing relatively well. However, prison life lacks distraction and entertainment, not to mention a digital connection to the outside world. To kill time The Pirate Bay’s former operator put in a request to play games on an old Nintendo 8-bit console. Not the most advanced gaming experience, but a real treat for someone with virtually no access to entertainment. Unfortunately, however, Fredrik’s request was outright denied by the prison administration. While gaming isn’t against the rules, they state that there’s no way to open the box to check it for concealed items. “The console is sealed in such a way that it can not be opened without the machine being destroyed,†the prison wrote in a reply. In light of this, the institution can’t implement the necessary control of the game console and it is therefore impossible to ensure that it does not contain prohibited items.†Fredrik doesn’t agree with the decision decided to appeal the case before the administrative court. Pirate Bay’s former operator doesn’t believe that a game console from the 80s without any network connectivity poses a threat, and points out that the prison only has to buy a simply screwdriver to check the box. “That the institution lacks a screwdriver which costs 100 kroner can not be considered reasonable,†Fredrik writes. “One has to wonder how many other victims there are when all video-game units of the brand Nintendo have the same screwdriver,†he adds. This isn’t the first time that Fredrik has appealed a decision from the prison. Earlier this month he filed an appeal after the institution denied a request to print three documents. TF note: The Nintendo case can actually be opened with a pen and a cigarette lighter
  5. With nearly three million active users FrostWire is one of the most popular Android apps but a few hours ago the BitTorrent client and media downloader disappeared from the Play store. Google cites a YouTube related violation of the Developer Distribution Agreement. FrostWire has become a well-known file-sharing brand over the past decade. The application was first released in 2004 as a LimeWire fork, but underwent several changes over the years. Today it’s mostly a BitTorrent client, but it also offers the option to access content from YouTube. FrostWire is available on all major operating systems and does particularly well on Android where it has 2.9m active installs. Yesterday, however, the popular app was rendered unavailable. FrostWire developer Angel Leon informs TF that Google pulled the application citing a violation of the Developer Distribution Agreement. Unlike the recent ban by Amazon, the removal has nothing to do with torrents but was triggered by FrostWire’s YouTube integration. “After a regular review, we have determined that your app downloads, monetizes, or otherwise accesses YouTube videos in violation of the YouTube Terms of Service or YouTube API Terms of Service,†Google informed FrostWire while cautioning over the possibility of a permanent disconnection. “All removals are tracked. Repeated removals will result in app suspension, at which point this app will count as a strike against the good standing of your developer account and no longer be available on Google Play. After the first warning last Friday FrostWire submitted a YouTube-less app to get it re-listed. This worked, as the app was put back in the store by Saturday, but yesterday it was removed again citing the “YouTube†violation. “We’re pretty pissed by how Google is acting all bully on app developers,†Leon tells us in response to the recent troubles. The app’s users are not happy either. Many were happy to have the YouTube integration and berated FrostWire for removing it. To please these users the developers made a separate version with YouTube functionality that can be installed directly from the FrostWire site. “Our solution to pissed off users after Google forced us to remove YouTube integration from FrostWire, was to simply build another version of the app which didn’t disable the feature, and tell users to get the installer directly from our website,†Leon says. The YouTube situation was explained in the FrostWire client and more than a million people saw the notification over the weekend. Interestingly, Google doesn’t allow developers to promote apps outside the market so this notification had to go too. Facing these and other restrictions, the FrostWire team is growing increasingly frustrated but without solid competition there’s not much they can do. “Google is acting too much like a bully lately, they need to be put on the spot, and they deserve some serious competition in the mobile space,†Leon says. At the time of writing FrostWire is still unavailable in the Play store. If everything goes well, however, the app should be reinstated in the near future.
  6. Earlier today, we gave you seven exclusive reasons why you're going to want to own a PlayStation 4 in 2015. But as Microsoft proved in 2014, they can hold their own when it comes to exclusive games offered on their console. It's all relative, but I personally feel that Xbox One had the better exclusive lineup this year. But what about in 2015? We've already made quite the case for PS4, but can Microsoft match Sony's gaming muscle? Below are 5 exclusive Xbox One games we're excited to play in 2015. Crackdown (3) The first Crackdown was launched by Microsoft Studios for Xbox 360 back in 2007. Featuring an open-world filled with over-the-top action and extreme weapons, it was well-received and widely regarded as a nice alternative to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Details are still scarce regarding the new Crackdown, which was announced during Microsoft's E3 2014 Press Conference, but a trailer that accompanied the reveal seemed to showcase the same elements that made the original so popular. Rise of the Tomb Raider Tomb Raider Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider reboot was a huge hit and one of the biggest games of 2013, despite what its publisher Square Enix had to say. If you plan on continuing Lara's journeys in Rise of the Tomb Raider, though, you're going to need an Xbox One, as Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive. Sure, it may -- and probably will -- eventually make its way to PlayStation 4, but we don't know when that'll be. If anything, this is Microsoft's temporary answer to PlayStation's Uncharted franchise. Fable Legends Mouse over video for audio CLOSE Fable Legends Fans of the popular Fable series are going to want to own an Xbox One in 2015, as the latest installment, Fable Legends, makes its debut. Designed primarily with an emphasis on cooperative multiplayer gameplay, this role-playing game pits four heroes against a villain trying to prevent the group from completing objectives. Quantum Break quantum break Described by developer Remedy Entertainment's Sam Lake as a "fusion of a cinematic action game and a top-of-the-line live-action show," Quantum Break looks to blur the line between television and gaming. Officially labeled as a third-person, cover-based action game, Quantum Break sees you wielding unique powers in which you can bend and warp time to outmaneuver and outwit the enemy. What's really cool, though, is how your actual gameplay will impact the show. And in turn, the show will give you tips and inform you on how to play the game. Halo 5: Guardians Halo 5 Guardians Halo 5: Guardians, the newest installment of Microsoft's flagship franchise, makes its debut exclusively on Xbox One in 2015. Do I really need to say more about this? If a new Halo isn't reason enough to go out and buy an Xbox One this year, then I don't know what else Microsoft can do to convince you. If you already own an Xbox One and a copy of The Master Chief Collection, then you can get a sneak peek at Halo 5's multiplayer right now.
  7. Activision and Sledgehammer Games today released a teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's upcoming zombies mode, Exo Zombies. The trailer sets up the story, and reveals that the four survivors you'll play as are none other than virtual versions of John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, and Jon Bernthal. Check out the trailer above to hear Malkovich deliver an emotional monologue. Activision says the four survivors, who are members of the fictional military company Atlas, are "untrained and unpreprared." That's unfortunate, considering they're about to face off against a pack of nasty undead. The first episode in the Exo Zombies season is included with January's Havoc expansion, which you can get through Advanced Warfare's $50 DLC pass or by itself for $15. The expansion also adds new multiplayer maps and weapons to the game. This isn't the first time Activision has enlisted the help of celebrities to sell Call of Duty zombies DLC. Actors who played movie mobsters, including Ray Liotta, Chazz Palminteri, Joe Pantoliano, and Michael Madsen, have all appeared in past Call of Duty zombies content.
  8. Here's how you invite friends to your "virtual couch." Sony has released a short video tutorial for Share Play, a new feature that allows you to share yourPlayStation 4 games with friends who don't own them. As you can see in the video, Share Play is accessed through the PS4's party menu. If you're the host, you'll see a new option for Share Play in the party menu, where you can select "Give Controller to Visitor." This will give the guest control of the game for up to an hour. The host will need to be a PlayStation Plus member to use this feature, but not the guest. If the guest is a PlayStation Plus member as well, you can use the Share Play feature to play a multiplayer game together without the guest having to own or download the game. Share Play, a feature Sony introduced at its Gamescom press conference as a "virtual couch" experience, is being added to PS4s this Tuesday in the v2.00 firmware update dubbed "Masamune." The update also adds YouTube sharing, themes, and a USB music player that effectively enables custom soundtracks. You can find out more about what's included in the "Masamune" update right here. 9. It seems a little cobbled together, but if you're looking to make the game even harder, this will do the trick. Dark Souls fans have a real taste for punishment. As if Dark Souls II wasn't hard enough as it is, now a fan has created a mod that let's you play the game in the first-person perspective. It seems a little cobbled together. Basically, the mod just tells the game's camera to stay zoomed in all the way. Modder Benzoin-Gun explains that it places the camera slightly behind the character's head, so you'll sometime notice your character clip through the camera, as you can see here when lighting a torch. More importantly, you can turn the camera in a different direction than your character is facing, so you need to remember to move forward to keep them aligned, and that when fighting, your character is locked to the enemy. You'll also want to play this mod with the higher turn sensitivity of a mouse and keyboard as opposed to a controller. Check out the video's description on YouTube to find out more and download the mod. And in case you missed it, you can grab the Steam version of Dark Souls II from the official Bandai Namco store today for $20. What do you think is harder, finishing Dark Souls II in first-person or with a Rock Band guitar controller? Let us know in the comments below. 10. The Libertines frontman Carl Barat will perform for SXSW 2015. Barat recently revealed his new band, The Jackals, and plans to enthrall the Texans with his new material. Speaking to yesterday at the Q Awards Carl said "we can't wait, the new band are ready to rock". Scott Weiland will also showcase his new band The Wildabouts at SXSW 2015. Weiland has been touring the USA this year with The Wildabouts playing an almost all-Stone Temple Pilots setlist plus a few of his Velvet Revolver songs and the occasional cover such as David Bowie's 'The Jean Genie'. 11. The casting process for Doctor Strange continues to limp ever onwards, with Colin Farrell the latest name to be linked to Marvel’s favourite sorcerer. According to The Wrap, Farrell is now one of the top names in contention for the role, with Keanu Reeves and Benedict Cumberbatch also thought to be among the frontrunners. The report also claims that Joaquin Phoenix is still in the mix, despite early negotiations having apparently broken down. It is thought he had previously come close to accepting the role, only for the finer points of his deal to prove unsatisfactory… Meanwhile, another potential contender for Doctor Strange could be about to throw his lot in with another superhero franchise, with Fox reportedly keen to sign Tom Hardy as the titular villain in X-Men: Apocalypse. Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange will open in the US on 8 July 2016, with a UK date to be confirmed. 13. Set to team up with Danny Boyle on biopic Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs biopic looks as though it may have found its leading man, with THR reporting that Christian Bale is in negotiations to take the role. It had initially been a part that Leonardo DiCaprio had looked set to play, only for the star to recently drop out of discussions, citing scheduling worries. Bale had previously been David Fincher’s first choice to star, back when the he was attached to the project, only for the director to eventually walk away. Scripted by Aaron Sorkin, Boyle’s film will be split into three thirty-minute scenes, each set before three of Apple’s major product launches, from the Mac to the iPod. The film has yet to receive an official title or release date, but expect announcements on those two fronts as soon as a leading man is locked in… Add Rep and Leave a feedback Reputation is the green button in the down right corner on my post

  15. Yager shows off a round of its big spaceships multiplayer game. Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager has released a video showing off Dreadnought, its new, free-to-play multiplayer game where each player controls a hulking capital spaceship. In the video, Game Director Peter Holzapfel and Game Designer Eino Joas give us a play-by-play of a team deathmatch round. At first, we get to see them command a new ship called the Archon Dreadnought. They say it's one of the lighter Dreadnoughts in the game, meaning it's faster, but can't take too much damage. We later get to see them pilot the Technical Cruiser, which can repair allies, and the Thanatos, which is the heaviest Dreadnought in the game. Overall, The game contains five classes, with multiple ships in every class, each with a fully customizable set of weapons and abilities. You'll be able to dedicate power to specific sub-systems, customize weapons, engines, armor, abilities, crew, and the ships’ aesthetics. The game will feature 5v5 multiplayer as well as a single player campaign. Dreadnought is scheduled for release on PC in 2015. For more on the game, read our interview with Yagerfrom E3 2014. 17. While Popcorn Time continues to have its ups and downs, a new release aiming to muscle in on the famous app's patch has hit the Google Play marketplace. The team behind TVMC is billing the XBMC/Kodi based app as a safer alternative to Popcorn Time, but its availability via Google Play could be a short-lived affair. After months of prime-time exposure the various Popcorn Time apps have become some of the most talked about file-sharing applications around today. Almost every other week the application, in one guise or another, becomes a newsworthy event. However, the idea of presenting content in a pretty interface is not new. XBMC, now officially known as the Kodi Entertainment Center, has been a popular choice amongst movie and TV show fans for many years. While the app itself provides little direct access to content, a myriad of third-party plugins streamlines the process massively. That being said, in terms of simplicity Popcorn Time has the market sewn up. The straightforward install and configuration process is a snap for almost anyone and while a fully-loaded XBMC/Kodi setup beats it in many respects, getting that setup right is not easy for beginners. With that in mind the people at TVAddons think they have a solution. Currently only available on Android, TVMC is XBMC/Kodi but in a convenient and almost ready-to-go package. Once the software is installed the user is guided through a no-fail setup process to activate the main plugins that provide access to a wide range of movies, TV shows and sports. Despite the smooth setup, it’s still not quite Popcorn Time in terms of simplicity of interface, but content-wise it appears to hold all the cards with direct access to PrimeWire, Project Free TV, IceFilms, USTVnow and Veetle, among others. Legal content is available from all of these sites, but the decision of what to view will be down to the user. While Popcorn Time is BitTorrent-based, TVMC pulls content from streaming sites. This, its creators say, means their system is more secure for users. “Unlike the popular app Popcorn Time which gives you access to similar content, through torrent technology instead of streaming links, TVMC does not turn the end-user’s device into a server, it simply streams content directly from file hosts such as GorillaVid, NovaMov, Billion Uploads,†TVAddons say. The other slight advantage TVMC has over Popcorn Time is availability. Unlike its rival, TVMC is currently sitting on Google Play’s store ready for download. At $0.88 its affordable, but definitely not as cheap as the current free version of Android Popcorn Time. However, for those prepared to do a manual install, TVMC is available for free via the TVAddons site. Add Rep and Leave a feedback Reputation is the green button in the down right corner on my post Overall, TVMC is really XBMC for beginners but the big question now is how long the software will remain accessible on Google Play. History tells us that if it’s still downloadable this time next week, that will be a major achievement.
  18. At San Diego Comic-Con last month, Marvel Studios held back on announcing any upcoming projects outside of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 despite having – at the time – just added six release dates for untitled theatrical releases. It was strangebut perhaps not when considering that rival comic book movie studios Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros. also opted out of unveiling their future plans. Given that Doctor Strange still didn’t have a date despiteScott Derrickson being officially attached to direct and Jon Spaihts brought in as a new writer, it seemed the most likely to show up in some capacity at the convention, even it it was just a title card and confirmed release date. We know after Captain America 3 in May 2016 there’s a second release date in July 2016 reserved for a new property. It’s all but confirmed that the new property is in fact, Doctor Strange, especially since it begins production early next year. We did learn though through reports towards the end of the event that multiple Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix was in talks with Marvel Studios for the lead role in Doctor Strange and heard nothing since. Previously, high profile stars including Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy and Jared Leto were namedropped as contenders, and more recently, Jack Huston. According to Collider’s sources, the Huston rumor isn’t quite true, at least when it comes to the lead role. They report that Phoenix is very much still the lead contender and is actually in final negotiations for the part. It seems Marvel is waiting to lock down their next future Avenger before announcing anything official regarding production and release dates. We can only assume the lengthy negotiations are due to locking down a salary that works for Marvel (they don’t want another repeat of Robert Downey Jr.’s contract) and the a schedule that works for Phoenix. The standard minimum for the franchise’s core heroes so far has been for six films and that usually includes options for standalone sequels should Doctor Strange succeed, along with roles in future Avengers installments. It is possible however, that the new Phase 3 characters – which also includes Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man - could just be getting one-and-done standalone introductions before bringing them into the team-based fold under The Avengers banner. It just depends on how bankable Marvel’s littlest Avenger and the Sorcerer Supreme are. Now that Marvel is pushing towards releasing three films a year beginning in 2017, Phase 3 could change the formula for how the studio delivers new characters and team-ups. Only time will tell. The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015, Ant-Man on July 17, 2015, Captain America 3 on May 6 2016, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on July 28 2017, and unannounced films for July 8 2016 and May 5 2017, November 3 2017, May 4 2018, July 6 2018, November 2 2018 and May 3 2019. 19. When a gig prevented Elvis Costello from making a recording session for Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes – an album of "lost" Bob Dylan lyrics that Costello, Marcus Mumford and My Morning Jacket's Jim James, among others, have set to music – producer T-Bone Burnett found a worthy fill-in: Johnny Depp. The actor sat in on guitar for Costello during the recording of "Kansas City," according to NME, after stopping by the L.A. studio where the sessions are taking place to visit the producer. Burnett and the musicians, which also include Dawes' Taylor Goldsmith and Carolina Chocolate Drops' Rhiannon Giddens, have been working on the record since this past spring. The lyrics date back to Dylan's fabled 1967 stay at the West Saugerties house known as "Big Pink," where he and the Band recorded 30 songs that were heavily bootlegged until their official release asThe Basement Tapes in 1975. During his time at Big Pink, Dylan wrote the lyrics to many songs that he did not record, so Burnett & Co. have taken it upon themselves to give the "new" songs music on Lost on the River and have set about recording an estimated 50 new songs (with overlap). Song titles include "Florida Key," "Card Shark," "Hi-De-Ho" and "Lost on the River." "These are not B-level Dylan lyrics," Burnett told the Los Angeles Times this past March. "They're lyrics he just never got around to finishing." In addition to making the album, the musicians are allowing Showtime filmmaker Sam Jones to document the sessions for a special titled Lost on the River: The Basement Tapes Continued, which is set to premiere in the fall. Depp has been especially busy with music the last few years. Last month, he joined Aerosmith in Boston to play guitar on "Train Kept A-Rollin'," following up his appearance doing backup vocals on their 2012 album Music From Another Dimension. He also joined Willie Nelson in Boston, at a June concert, for performances of "On the Road Again" and "Crazy." Two years prior, he played with the Black Keys at the MTV Movie Awards, surprised an Alice Cooper audience at one of the shock rocker's L.A. gigs and crashed Marilyn Manson's headlining gig at the Revolver Golden Gods show. He also played guitar on a cover of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" with Manson that year.
  20. The actress-singer will be the first African American to portray the title character in the stage show. Anyone have an extra pair of glass slippers? Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Broadway has found its new star: Keke Palmer will take over the title role beginning Sept. 9. Currently, Palmer is on Showtime's Masters of Sex; previously, she appeared in projects such as the Disney Channel Original Movie Jump In! and the 2008 Nickelodeon show True Jackson, VP, for which she also performed the theme song. Other credits include Lifetime's TLC biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story and the film Joyful Noise. Most recently, she hosted the talk show Just Keke on BET. Her albums include the 2007 CD So Uncooland a self-titled 2012 EP. "Theater offers so much more than I haven't been able to access doing film and TV and everything like that," Palmer told the Associated Press. "I'm very excited to learn all that it has to offer — that focus and that dedication to perform at a certain level every night." Palmer, who will be the first African-American actress to portray Cinderella on Broadway, will succeed Paige Faure in the role. Earlier this year, Carly Rae Jepsen played the title role, which was originated by Tony nominee Laura Osnes when the show premiered in 2013.
  21. The former operator of and, who has served more than two years in prison for copyright infringement, has outed several prisons for showing pirated movies to their inmates. One of the prisons mentioned says that the matter is still under investigation. jailIn 2010 Richard Humphrey was sentenced to 29 months in prison for operating several pirate sites, including the popular and Earlier this year Humphrey, who is a well-known and controversial figure in the warez community in various roles, went back to jail after he violated his probation of an unrelated offense. This time he was sent to Lorain Correctional Institution in Ohio, where he was surprised to see that pirated copies of “Ride Along†and “Wolf of Wall Street†were being played for inmates. According to Humphrey the movies were shown while they were still playing in theaters and had clear earmarks of being pirated copies. Baffled by this apparent display of deviant behavior by prison staff, Humphrey notified the Deputy Warden and the Warden about his complaint. Below is a copy of the kite (written request) that was sent to Warden Clipper, who confirms the reported issue. “Your concerns have been addressed in the past but it appears that this activity is still taking place,†Clipper writes. The kite Humphrey sent kite TorrentFreak got in touch with Mr. Humphrey who is baffled that prison staff are committing the same kinds of crimes some of their inmates have been convicted for. This isn’t exactly the correctional influence one would expect from these institutions, Humphrey says. “If people are going to prison for copyright infringement, prison mind you, where they are supposed to be paying their debt to society and rehabilitate for their crimes? How is it that the prison itself is showing pirated movies?†Humphrey says. “Why are people even being punished and sent to prison for rehabilitation when it’s clear that the system isn’t able to restrain itself from the same type of activity,†he adds. After his release last week he contacted Warden Clipper again in a phone call to follow-up on the issue. She reiterated that the complaint is being taken seriously and that the matter is being looked into. Clipper couldn’t say, however, whether the officer responsible has been questioned about the issue. TF contacted Lorain Correctional Institution for a comment on the allegations and a spokesperson informed us that the issue is still being investigated. Thus far, however, no pirated materials have been uncovered. “Please note that this matter is still under investigation. Warden Clipper received two kites from this inmate both of which she took seriously. No contraband has been found pertaining to this matter and nothing can substantiate this inmate’s claim,†we were told. “Due to Warden Clippers concern regarding copyrighted movies this investigation will remain ongoing. There have not been any other complaints from any other inmates or staff concerning this matter,†the spokesperson added. Of course, other inmates are unlikely to complain about pirated movies, as they probably enjoy the free entertainment. For them it’s the only option to watch the latest blockbuster movies shortly after they premiere. According to Humphrey, the Lorain Correctional Institution is not the only prison where pirated movies are shown to inmates. During his youth he was detained at Lorain County Juvenile Detention Center, where the same issues took place. Looking back at his time there, Humphrey says this may have played a role in his fascination for piracy, which eventually led to him starting several pirate sites, and a subsequent 29 month stay in a federal prison. According to Humphrey these probably aren’t isolated incidents that only occurred in these two institutions either. He believes that this is a broader issue apparent in all layers of society, prisons included. Humphrey finally notes that the solution of the issue lies with the movie companies, not the infringers. He believes that the content producers should come up with affordable and good platforms so movie fans can watch their favorite movies in all formats as soon as they are released. Until then, however, prisons should probably stay away from DVDrips, CAMs and Telesyncs. Source: TorrentFreak
