  1. Square Enix is continuously looking for new eager people to work on their next blockbuster release, Final Fantasy XV. Now they have opened a position for an online game planner who will be part in making of a huge online world. Required skills for the job are positive attitude, great motivation and knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Other desired skills are experience of online management, game production, general management, game system designing and interests in PC gaming. Being a gamer is a a bonus too. The job summary also explains more about Final Fantasy XV and its groundbreaking technology, but doesn’t go into details too much. So, what could this be? Since the job offer seems to be related to PC environments, it’s possible they are planning some sort of mini games which are playable on browsers. It’s also possible that they are developing unannounced online features to Final Fantasy XV, but that’s just our speculation. Possibilities that we will never hear about this are also high because this could be a concept, which will be cancelled eventually.
  2. Sony and Square Enix have teamed up for a new PlayStation 4 design to mark the release of upcoming role-playing game Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. The console, which has been announced only for Japan, comes in a red and black design, which also goes for the DualShock 4 controller. The PS4 bundle also packs in a copy of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (of course), a Type-0 theme, and a download code for the super-limited Final Fantasy XV demo. Siliconera reports that the console will go on sale march 19, 2015 for ¥46,980, which is about $392. Buying Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is the only way to get access to the Final Fantasy XV demo, which should offer 3-4 hours of gameplay, according to Square Enix. In other Type-0 HD news, Square Enix recently revealed a rather-impressive collector's edition. For more on the Type-0 HD PS4 bundle, check out the image gallery below.
  3. Watch the teaser trailer for the new expansion. Square Enix has announced Heavensward, the first expansion pack for its MMO Final Fantasy XIV, will release in spring 2015. The Game's director Naoki Yoshida announced the news in his keynote at the Final Fantasy XIV Fanfest event in Las Vegas. Heavensward, which will be part of the 3.0 update to the game, will raise the level cap to 60, and introduce new Primals, dungeons, high end raids, and jobs. The game will get a new playable race. Yoshida didn't say which race, only that it's not Viangaa, as previously rumored. Players will also be able to build airships to explore "Ishgard and beyond," and new huge open areas in the game. The expansion will focus on the Dragonsong War, a thousand-year conflict between Ishgard and Dravania that players will have to end. Square Enix said that it will reveal more information about the expansion at the London Fan Festival on October 25. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was released in August last year for the PlayStation 3 and PC, followed by a PlayStation 4 launch in April this year. 4. Take a closer look at some of the environments you'll explore and guns you'll use in the game's final expansion. In a post today on the Battlefield Blog, DICE shared more details and images for Battlefield 4's final expansion, the appropriately titled Final Stand. The DLC will be available in Battlefield 4's Community Test Environment starting today, but DICE wouldn't say when it will be released publicly, outside of teasing that it's "right around the corner." Officially, the DLC is scheduled to launch sometime this fall. Final Stand delivers four maps (Operation Whiteout, Hammerhead, Hangar 21, and Giants of Karelia), all of which take place in wintry environments. Another focus of Final Stand is its near-future weapons and gadgets such as a DS-3 DECOY gun attachment that emits false blips on enemies' mini-maps and the XD-1 Accipiter, a remote-controlled, LMG-equipped drone. Final Stand content will appear in Battlefield 4's Community Test Environment for PC starting today at 3 PM PDT. You can sign up to take part in the Community Test Environment today here, though you'll need to be a Battlefield Premium member to try out the new maps. For more on Final Stand, check out the image gallery below. GameSpot recently caught up with DICE LA--the team behind Final Stand--for an in-depth interview about the state of Battlefield 4. 5. Just-released RPG doesn't have much in the way of configuration options. Not all PC games have a multitude of graphics options like Crytek's Ryse: Son of Rome. The PC version of Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII was released today on Steam and early reports show the game does not offer much in the way of configuration options. GameSpot installed the game today and found that configurable options are limited to basic elements like difficulty, subtitles, and camera. The options you see in the image below, the Final Fantasy XIII Settings screen, represent the extent of what you can change. The extent of Final Fantasy XIII's PC optionsWhat's more, we found that if you ever hit the Escape button during gameplay, the game closes and exits to Steam. More bizarrely, hitting Alt+F4 brings up a screen that asks if you want to exit the game. On top of that, Final Fantasy XIII for PC appears to be locked at a maximum resolution of 720p. Amazingly, however, noted modder "Durante"--who basically fixed the PC version of Dark Souls--has already released a plugin that brings the game's resolution up to 1080p. We weren't the only ones to notice Final Fantasy XIII's shortcomings on PC, as community hubs Reddit andNeoGAF are flooded commentary about the PC version. We've reached out to Square Enix for comment regarding the PC version of Final Fantasy XIII and will update this post with anything we hear back. Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns are also coming to PC through Steam, and are expected to launch by spring 2015. Information from GameSpot hardware editor Peter Brown is included in this report. Add Rep and Leave a feedback Reputation is the green button in the down right corner on my post
  6. You'll soon be able to play Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, and Lightning Returns on PC. The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy of games--that is, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII--is headed to PCs beginning next month. First out of the gate will be XIII on October 9. It'll be released digitally through Steam and Square Enix's online store for $15.99. If you know you'll be picking it up through Steam, you can pre-purchase it prior to release and get a small 10 percent discount that brings its price down to $14.39. There's no word on whether any improvements are being made for these PC releases, but XIII (and presumably the following two) will, at the very least, offer support for Steam trading cards. Likewise, we don't yet have prices or release dates for XIII-2 or Lightning Returns; Square Enix will only say that all three will be out by next spring. This follows the company discussing its desire to release the franchise on PC earlier this year. The XIII games are not considered by most to be the high point of the Final Fantasy series, but this does represent the first time they'll be made available on platforms other than Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. If you've played these games before or are simply not interested, there's other Final Fantasy news to get excited about today: Final Fantasy XV got a new trailer and a release date for its demo, and we found outFinal Fantasy Agito is making its way to PlayStation Vita (at least in Japan). The system requirement and recommended specs for XIII follow below. Minimum: OS: Windows XP SP2 or later Processor: 2GHz Dual Core CPU Memory: 1 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 8 Series / ATI Radeon HD 2000 series VRAM 256MB or later DirectX: Version 9.0c Hard Drive: 30 GB available space Sound Card: Sound card compatible with DirectX 9.0c Recommended: OS: Windows Vista / 7 / 8 Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad (2.66 GHz) / AMD Phenom II X4 (2.8 GHz) processor Memory: 1 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 / ATI Radeon HD 5870 DirectX: Version 11 Hard Drive: 30 GB available space Sound Card: DirectX 11 compatible sound card Additional Notes: A game controller using Xinput is recommended for this game. (If using a DirectInput based controller, please use the driver side key configuration to adjust settings as required.) 7. New footage suggests real-time battles, as well as focus on co-op; Tetsuya Nomura steps down from project. Publisher Square Enix released a brand new Final Fantasy XV trailer on Thursday, offering new insights and ideas on how the game will play. The two-and-a-half minute video opens with a quartet of heroes grouped together in a convertible, riding through wide stretches of land populated with mystical creatures. The journey these four heroes embark on appears to be at the heart of the story. Though details on gameplay are still thin, the video suggests Final Fantasy XV features battles that play out in real-time--an uncommon decision for a core numbered game in the series. Also hinted at is a day-night cycle, as well as co-op heroics. Series veteran, Tetsuya Nomura, has announced he has stepped away from directing FFXV to focus on Kingdom Hearts III, where he serves as director. A demo for the game will be packaged with Final Fantasy Type-0 in March 2015 Add Rep and Leave a feedback
  8. At San Diego Comic-Con last month, Marvel Studios held back on announcing any upcoming projects outside of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 despite having – at the time – just added six release dates for untitled theatrical releases. It was strangebut perhaps not when considering that rival comic book movie studios Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros. also opted out of unveiling their future plans. Given that Doctor Strange still didn’t have a date despiteScott Derrickson being officially attached to direct and Jon Spaihts brought in as a new writer, it seemed the most likely to show up in some capacity at the convention, even it it was just a title card and confirmed release date. We know after Captain America 3 in May 2016 there’s a second release date in July 2016 reserved for a new property. It’s all but confirmed that the new property is in fact, Doctor Strange, especially since it begins production early next year. We did learn though through reports towards the end of the event that multiple Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix was in talks with Marvel Studios for the lead role in Doctor Strange and heard nothing since. Previously, high profile stars including Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy and Jared Leto were namedropped as contenders, and more recently, Jack Huston. According to Collider’s sources, the Huston rumor isn’t quite true, at least when it comes to the lead role. They report that Phoenix is very much still the lead contender and is actually in final negotiations for the part. It seems Marvel is waiting to lock down their next future Avenger before announcing anything official regarding production and release dates. We can only assume the lengthy negotiations are due to locking down a salary that works for Marvel (they don’t want another repeat of Robert Downey Jr.’s contract) and the a schedule that works for Phoenix. The standard minimum for the franchise’s core heroes so far has been for six films and that usually includes options for standalone sequels should Doctor Strange succeed, along with roles in future Avengers installments. It is possible however, that the new Phase 3 characters – which also includes Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man - could just be getting one-and-done standalone introductions before bringing them into the team-based fold under The Avengers banner. It just depends on how bankable Marvel’s littlest Avenger and the Sorcerer Supreme are. Now that Marvel is pushing towards releasing three films a year beginning in 2017, Phase 3 could change the formula for how the studio delivers new characters and team-ups. Only time will tell. The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015, Ant-Man on July 17, 2015, Captain America 3 on May 6 2016, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on July 28 2017, and unannounced films for July 8 2016 and May 5 2017, November 3 2017, May 4 2018, July 6 2018, November 2 2018 and May 3 2019. 9. But a prior report claimed that production was already set to kick off last month. Which report is true? The iPhone 6 is now facing its final test phase in preparation for mass production. At least, that's the latest scuttlebutt from Chinese media. Purportedly based on sources at Apple supplier Foxconn, a report from Chinese blog site Weiboclaims that the iPhone 6 is now in a stage called product validation test (PVT), according to the G for Games blog. The PVT stage means that the iPhone assembly line ramps up to full speed to see if any hitches creep into the process. A small number of iPhones are manufactured for a quality-control check, and the assembly line may be tweaked if the process needs any refinements. Mass production then starts as soon as the PVT passes muster. However, a July report from Chinese media claimed that mass production of a 4.6-inch iPhone 6 was already slated to start in July, while production of a 5.5-inch model would kick off during the second week of August. So which report is correct, assuming either of them are? One possible explanation is that the July report may have been accurate at the time but that Apple ran into issues that led to a delay in actual mass production. Another explanation is that one or more of the sources for these two reports simply has the facts wrong. The source of the newest report is Xiang Ligang, a former professor at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and currently CEO of a Chinese publication called CCTimes, according to G for Games. As such, G for Games gives him some credibility based on his expected knowledge of Apple's Chinese supply chain sources. For now, though, take all of this with the usual grain of salt as these items are still firmly in the rumor stage. Whether it's already reached mass production or is just about to reach it, the next iPhone needs to be ready soon. The iPhone 6 is expected to be unveiled next month, most likely at a media event on September 9, according to Recode. If true, that means Apple must be prepping production of the new iPhone in time for a consumer rollout later in September or early October at the latest. A spokeswoman for Apple declined CNET's request to comment on the mass production reports.
  10. Those who’re looking forward to seeing The Expendables 3 in theaters – and who have not gone out and watched the pirated version that’s been leaked online ahead of then – can rejoice in the arrival of one final trailer for the old-school action genre icon-studded affair. Unlike the recently-released extended TV promos for the film, this new theatrical preview contains a reasonable amount of previously-unrelaesed footage – and more than a reasonable amount of things (buildings and helicopters, for the most part) exploding onscreen. Expendables 3 may pack more flying bullets, death-defying stunts, and stuff going boom than its predecessors, but the brand has also gone PG-13 for the latest installment. That is a far cry from the decidedly R-Rated features of the 1980s and ’90s that inspired the property in the first place (Rambo, Predator, and so on); even by today’s standards, such films are far too violent and full of foul language to be labeled “hard PG-13,†for sure. On the other hand, as far as PG-13 action features go, this one looks pretty fun. Maybe the throwback spirit has diminished a good deal since the first movie (and after the series almost crossed over fully into parody territory in part two), but now we may get a solid action movie experience on its own terms, in return. Indeed, judging by the trailer footage shown so far, director Patrick Hughes’ Expendables installment will be far more technically proficient than previous films in the series. Interestingly, the Expendables 3 storyline – Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) must settle an old score with his former partner, Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson) – actually reads as being somewhat more retro in spirit than those for the previous Expendables features. That’s all the more interesting since, in terms of casting, the ensemble this round includes not just more old-timers (see: Welsey Snipes and Antonio Banderas having joined the party), but several younger action heroes in the making to boot. Basically, between the rating, casting, and story, Expendables 3 seems designed to appeal to both those who grew up watching ’80s/’90s action and, well, anyone else who appreciates two hours of down n’ dirty action cinema. Will it be a better film and/or more successful at the box office for it? Neither is a given, but we might as well strap in, hang on, and hope for the best at this stage. The Expendables 3 opens in U.S. theaters on August 15th, 2014.
