Sony will release two new Yakuza-themed custom PlayStation 4 consoles in Japan alongside the new Yakuza game, the company has announced. There's the Kazuma Kiryu Edition and the Mashima Goro Edition, both of which feature dragon artwork inspired by Yakuza tattoo design. Sony's selling them as special consoles, but the fancy design bits are laser-engraved HDD covers. They each come in either the console's Jet Black or Glacier White version and will cost ¥41,980 (which is about $350) when they're released on March 12, 2015. The special edition console will give buyers a small discount on the upcoming Yakuza Zero, a prequel to the open world crime-themed series that takes place in 1988, seven years before the events of the first Yakuza game. During its PlayStation Experience event earlier this month, Sony and Sega announced that Yakuza 5 will finally get a Western release, coming to PlayStation 3 via PSN in 2015. Sega and Sony also recently madeYakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls available to download. So far, Sony and Sega didn't announce plans to release Yakuza Zero and the special edition PS4s outside of Japan. The companies also haven't said whether Yakuza: Ishin, the first PS4 game in the series, will get a Western release.
Plus, Game Clips can now be published on Twitter; Trending stats added to TV guide. Microsoft has outlined numerous improvements, additions and changes coming to Xbox One via its monthly system update. The main attraction for November is the new personalisation features, which allow users to create a customised background. The corporation adds that this was the "number one requested feature" from fans. This comes weeks after the Xbox head, Phil Spencer, pledged to add custom theme support to Xbox One systems. Though the new update is a stepping-stone on that path, Microsoft said that "more customisation options" would arrive later. "PlayBook 4" lets you bring your console with you wherever you go...for a price. From the enterprising modder who brought you the Xbox One "Xbook" comes a similar creation focused around Sony's PlayStation 4. Self-taught engineer Ed Zarick this week posted a video of what he calls the "PlayBook 4," which is essentially a PlayStation 4 laptop. The PlayBook 4 (via Eurogamer) features the PS4's guts inside a 3D-printed and laser-cut plastic case. The screen is a 22" Vizio 1080p LED LCD display, which fits snugly inside the system's lid. It comes in multiple color configurations, and pricing is as follows: PlayBook 4 -- $1395 (extra $50 for HDMI out) PlayBook 4 (you provide a PS4) -- $1095 Shipping -- $75 flat rate for anywhere in the contiguous United States (international is extra). To order a PlayBook 4, you'll need to pay a $750 nonrefundable deposit. Zarick says it takes around 2-3 weeks to finish a unit. You can choose to have the system made in black or white, and you also have color options for accents and corners, including black, red, yellow, blue, green, copper, silver, grey, orange, white, purple, and pink. Zarick adds that he can even do "full graphic customization" if you want, though this will cost extra. He also points out that you'll void your PS4 warranty by having your console modded in this way, but he includes his own 30-day warranty to fix any problems not related to user abuse. Finally, Zarick ensures potential buyers that the PS4 units featured in PlayBooks are not altered in a way that would get you banned on the PlayStation Network. You can read more about the PlayBook 4 on Zarick's website. Add Rep and Leave a feedback Reputation is the green button in the down right corner on my post
Future updates will introduce option to visually renovate the console operating system. Monthly scheduled updates to Xbox One will soon add custom themes, backgrounds and wallpapers the system's dashboard, the head of Xbox Phil Spencer has said."I was told themes and background pics are something that we are working on and screenshots, you know people beat me up on screenshots," Spencer said on a recent Inner Circle podcast. He added: "The team has done a great job with the monthly updates, some of the things are just a prioritisation and are a time in development. But I know that people like to customize the look of their dash." No firm date or timeline was given on the addition of theme support for Xbox One, though Spencer pledged that they would arrive eventually. "I think both themes, backgrounds and screenshots are things I know people want so we are going to deliver on them. But we can’t give a when yet." Further to this, a spokesperson for Microsoft told IGN that theme support will be introduced in future monthly updates. "We’ve been carefully listening to your feedback and look forward to delivering many of those features and more as part of our regular Xbox One system updates," reads a statement form the company. "We look forward to sharing more details in the future."
